Flower Power!

November 29, 2006

Here’s a tidbit from our next Cultivate newsletter going out in December:

Flowers pack a punch! At least that’s what recent studies from
Harvard, Texas A&M and Rutger’s are showing. Not only do flowers add color, fragrance and style to your home, but they also have been proven to increase your energy and compassion, relieve stress, and put you in a happier, healthier state of mind!

With today’s hectic lifestyles why say no to such a simple solution? Okay, so flowers won’t cure you from diseases or make you forget all of your worries, but they have been shown to have a long term positive effect on your mood resulting in a higher sense of life satisfaction. So forget about Prozac – by placing flowers in commonly frequented areas of your home, such as the kitchen, the dining room or the living room, you can receive the greatest amount of mood-boosting effects.

With the holidays coming up, why not give a gift of flowers? The universal impact it has on people is amazing! Those that receive flowers show “true” smiles, experience feelings of delight and gratitude and it has an immediate impact on their happiness. By having flowers in the home, people reported feeling less depressed, anxious and agitated. Flowers have been revealed to make a space more welcoming and they create a sharing atmosphere, bringing positive emotional feelings to those who enter the room, perhaps as a result leading to the increase in contact with family and friends when flowers are present. Flowers have even been shown to help senior citizens cope with challenges of aging.

The beneficial effects of flowers are so strong that they will even continue on through to the workplace. Boosts of happiness, energy and enthusiasm from flowers in the home can impact your mood at work too. And with flowers and plants present in the working environment workers’ idea generation, creative performance and problem solving skills improve substantially.

With so many varieties and sizes you can’t go wrong finding the flower that’s right for you – it’s the everyday accessory for any budget, any lifestyle or anybody! Add more happiness to your home today!!
